Hi Tim, nice to meet you. Could you please introduce yourself?

Hi, I’m Tim, I am the Site Leader for the TAO1 Fulfillment Center (FC) at Coupang Taiwan. I first joined Coupang Taiwan 2 years ago as an Outbound (OB) manager in June 2023, and since then I have worked in several positions within the Operations team. I started off as an Operations Manager. Half a year after I joined, I became a part Site Manager and Hiring Manager due to the expansion of Coupang Taiwan. I am now the Site Lead for TAO1, which means I oversee all aspects of the functions within an FC — this includes Inbound (IB), Outbound (OB), ICQA (Inventory Control Quality Assurance), daily cost & efficiency, and many more.

We’re curious to hear more about your journey to Coupang. What attracted you the most?

Before joining Coupang, I worked in the semiconductor industry for a local multinational semiconductor manufacturing company. I took on planning roles in the manufacturing department. I worked there for 5 years, but when I turned 30, I realized I wanted a change in career, so I left that company without any job lined up. During my break, Coupang contacted me for an interview. The opportunity to work for a global commerce company, which was different from my previous experiences, along with the scope of work and responsibilities to be hands-on in solving and improving processes attracted me, and it came with a competitive compensation.

What has been the biggest change since you’ve joined Coupang?

When I look back on my career shift that I embarked on 2 years ago, I feel much happier compared to when I was in the semiconductor industry. At Coupang, with the work I do, I get a sense of achievement, the scope of my job is larger, and I can really take care of several aspects of the FC, making a direct impact on our customers’ lives.

What are some of Coupang’s focus in the FCs in terms of EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) and creating a cohesive work environment?

At Coupang, safety is at the center of our everyday work. Safety is our priority. On the operations’ side, everyone from FC workers to managers and site leads are aligned on safety and communication. Those include, for example, Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) signs for equipment and guidelines in multiple languages.

For the work environment, our Employee Relations (ER) team organizes monthly events for birthdays with onsite workers regardless of their department. We also celebrate holidays in Taiwan and international ones, too. During those events, we get to share our traditions and cultures from all around the world and learn about each other.

Any goals or plans for the future with Coupang?

At Coupang we have Leadership Principles with one of them being, “Aim High and Find a Way.” For the past 2 years, I have seen the growth of Coupang in Taiwan and within the local Taiwan Operations market. I hope with Coupang, I get to “Aim High” by contributing to the creation of a complete and sound logistics network across the country. In the long term, depending on demand and expansion, I’m willing to further my scope of work to collaborate with various teams on new projects.

What kind of team members do you want to hire?

Within our Logistics teams, we are looking for individuals who are logical thinkers, with a strong sense of responsibility, and hold an interest in learning and growing within the logistics fields. Coupang Taiwan is expanding. If you want to innovate and build the future of commerce, come join us.
