Meet Curtis — Senior Manager Outbound at Coupang Taiwan FCs

Hi, Curtis. Could you please introduce yourself and your team? 

Hello, my name is Curtis. I’m a Senior Operation Manager for Outbound (OB) at Coupang Fulfillment Centers here in Taiwan. I joined last year in September. My team ensures that our customers receive their orders on time with the quickest delivery for packages and provide them with the best customer experience possible. 

 

Can you share your career background? How do you think it helped with your current role?  

Before joining Coupang, I worked in the semiconductor industry in operation planning and manufacturing management. The semiconductor industry has very complex process flows, one needs to be very careful and attentive in terms of planning and execution. You also need high accuracy for planning.  Those experiences in my career have made me a strong Operation Planner and helped launch my new team at Coupang. 

 

Can you tell us how Coupang or the OB team culture and events have helped you reach your full potential?   

The OB team is mainly responsible for customers’ orders. We handle a variety of products in different parts of the Fulfillment Center (FC), from picking and packing orders to the final shipment. In my work every day, I am provided with the opportunity at each level of operations to have sufficient decision-making ability with some degree of freedom. As the Senior Manager of the OB team, I also take ownership for decisions,  help team members with their responsibilities, and strive to work better together as a team.  

 

What has been the biggest change since you’ve joined Coupang FC? Do you think Coupang has also gone through a change? 

The biggest change for me since I’ve joined Coupang has been the opportunity to build up a high efficiency organization in our FCs for Outbound. The OB team in my current FC was launched in February 2025 and has had great results so far. As Coupang has grown, we have also seen our teams’ productivity go up, expanding our daily output exponentially, which is not only a company achievement but also a personal one for me.  

 

Could you explain how Coupang incorporates technology into the Outbound processes to improve efficiency? 

Coupang has a strong technological operations support system. This system keeps evolving each quarter to optimize physical operations for efficiency improvement. For example, the latest version of the system for picking logic will keep real time updates to provide the shortest picking route for best efficiency. 

Technology has always been the driving force for human growth. Coupang by investing in technology, ensures that our teams can be more efficient every day and ultimately  provides the best customer service to wow our customers
