Nice to meet you Logan. Would you please introduce yourself?

Hello, my name is Logan. I have been working at Korean and global companies for approximately 30 years specializing in Environmental Health and Safety. I joined CPLB (Coupang Private Label Brands) in November of 2021 to kick start and stabilize EHS in our business.

How has your job changed after COVID-19?

I think we can all agree that the pandemic has had a profound impact on our world — not just our society, economy, and education, but also individual lifestyles. Many companies had to adapt drastically to new work environments. Our Dry Ice business at CPLB was no exception because we have roles like our production operators that must work on-site. But by being agile, we quickly found new ways to protect our employees from COVID-19. EHS is a team committed to maintaining a safe working environment at all times, so we stay alert, react quickly to urgent situations, and make effective decisions.

What qualifications are usually needed to work in an EHS team?

First of all, there are legal qualifications related to the environment, health, and safety. I would also say it’s important to have an open mind and good communication skills. As part of the EHS team, you will be required to effectively apply, communicate, and share various information and knowledge to people both inside and outside your organization.

If you had to choose just one, which leadership principle is the most important in your organization?

"Think systematically". The EHS team's success relies on our members' engagement and the leaders' attention. Therefore, in order to minimize risks and prevent accidents, we encourage good teamwork. I think it is important that we have create a system in our work that can lead to a virtuous cycle.

Can you give any tips on how to enjoy corporate life while also staying safe?

"Safety first." This doesn't necessarily mean safety is most important. But what I mean to say is that you must consider safety before starting anything. Ensuring safety in one's workplace or daily life is not as hard as you think. If we keep in mind that danger is always near us and stick to the safety regulations, we can reduce and even prevent any risks.

What are your hopes for 2022?

Personally, I think I am in the happiest period in my life right now (laugh). So I wish this happiness is lasting. I also wish safety and happiness to my family and our CPLB members.
