Q: Why did you decide to join Coupang Taiwan?
After having my twins, I was looking for a new challenge, and joining Coupang presented a unique opportunity. When I started two years ago, the team was in its early stages of development and Coupang Taiwan was ramping up. Since then, I've played a key role in building and shaping the retail organization in Taiwan, working on impactful strategies.
We've undergone significant transformations, and witnessing the team's growth has been incredibly rewarding. Being part of building the team and contributing to strategic initiatives in Taiwan has been a great opportunity for my career development.
Gaurav — Senior Director, Product Management
Q: What’s been most meaningful about your time at Coupang Taiwan?
I oversee various aspects of product development, including front-end applications, fulfillment side products, retail, and pricing. Building solutions that address real customer needs — such as selection, pricing, speed, and convenience — and seeing those strategies come to real life has been incredibly fulfilling. We see the impacts for customers and positive feedback from customers motivates us to continuously improve.
When I first joined Coupang, I was based in Seoul, Korea, but my focus was on Taiwan. As the team and operations in Taiwan grew, I moved to Taiwan and it allowed me to be closer to the team and the market, bringing successful experiences from Korea to enhance our efforts in Taiwan.
Dovie — Senior Director, EHS & Facilities
Q: What excites you most about your role in Taiwan?
Taiwan is a hub of innovation, making it an exciting place for EHS and Facilities. We're leveraging technology to create safer, smarter workplaces for the future. Joining Coupang Taiwan was thrilling because it combines a start-up culture with the resources of a global company. I was not looking for a typical role, but one where I could drive success and support our team with growth strategies across multiple functions.
In Taiwan, I've experienced a culture where you're empowered to solve problems. This drives personal and team growth without unnecessary stress and creates an engaging team culture. Coupang is also fun — Before joining Coupang, I learned about our rocket logo and leadership principles, so I bought a silver spacesuit and light-up shoes. We celebrate our employees' birthdays at our fulfillment centers, so I wore the outfit making these occasions memorable and fun.

Q: What makes Coupang Taiwan stand out?
Coupang is serious about investing in Taiwan's commerce market. The growth opportunities and investments to realize this vision are substantial. We've built a culture that's friendly and collaborative, centered around our leadership principles. The team embraces challenges and enjoys the journey of building things together, with everyone genuinely supporting each other.
When I first joined, Coupang was still gaining recognition in Taiwan. Now, I hear people talking about the fast delivery and affordable products in everyday life — whether it's from other families at my son’s recent school event or grocery market staff. It's rewarding to see the customer impact firsthand. With the recent launch of WOW membership, more people are becoming aware of Coupang's service, and it is truly wowing our customers.
