Hello, my name is Eva Chung. I am a Senior Chinese and English Interpreter and Translator at Coupang Taiwan. I provide Translation and Interpretation (T&I) support for our teams in Taiwan — covering a wide range of domains such as selection sourcing, tech engineering, legal affairs and compliance, recruiting, and accounting.
We’re curious to hear more about your journey to Coupang. What attracted you the most?
I joined Coupang Taiwan almost three years ago. I was attracted to Coupang because Coupang is a global company with a very large and established T&I organization at the headquarters in South Korea. I wanted to gain more knowledge about how an in-house T&I team is run and learn the tools that can be used for daily work. Furthermore, Coupang Taiwan was just in its infancy when I applied for this position. At that time, there was only one interpreter in Coupang Taiwan. I thought it must be an exciting and rewarding journey to participate in building a team and processes from scratch.
What capabilities are essential for Coupang's Interpretation Team?
In addition to the fundamental technical skills, being a team player is most critical for Coupang’s Interpretation Team. We receive a lot of T&I requests every day and our schedules and deadlines are constantly changing. It is important to be able to work with the team members and have the flexibility to accommodate the latest work plan.
What are you looking forward to the most with Coupang?
I look forward to seeing Coupang grow into an employer that uses the best and most convenient technologies and tools in the interpretation and translation industry. We are in the process of implementing tools and processes. Once implemented, I believe will increase the efficiency of T&I members’ work and make their lives easier. In addition, I can’t wait to see the T&I team at Coupang Taiwan develop into a well-established and huge organization with multiple sub-teams covering their own domains. Our T&I demands are growing in every aspect of the business. It would be fulfilling to run the T&I operations in such a rapid-changing corporate environment.
