Meet Claire — Corporate & Business Sourcing Team

Hi Claire, nice to meet you. Please introduce yourself. 

Hi, my name is Claire Jeong. I work in the Corporate & Business Sourcing team under the Global Recruiting CoE. I joined Coupang in November 2019, working as a Senior Sourcer for the Executive Sourcing team. I search for, attract and persuade global industry leaders to work with us. Basically, I’m a talent scout – think of me as the Cupid of corporate recruitment, but with fewer arrows and more emails. 

What has been the biggest change since you’ve joined Coupang?  

Since joining Coupang as a Talent Sourcer, the biggest change I’ve experienced has been the increasing complexity and specialization of the roles I’ve been tasked with filling. This shift has presented challenges, particularly in sourcing candidates for difficult and niche positions where the talent pool is limited. However, these challenges have also provided opportunities for growth. My managers have been incredibly supportive, offering guidance and resources to help refine my sourcing strategies and expand my network. Their mentorship has been crucial in overcoming these hurdles, allowing me to adapt and succeed in this evolving landscape.  

Do you think Coupang has also gone through a change?  

Absolutely. Back when I joined Coupang, before the company went public, my entourage was not necessarily recommending that I chose this path for my career.  Now, look at us. Coupang has since grown at rocket speed. It’s been a roller coaster, but definitely worth it.  Every year has been different, and I’ve had the opportunity to grow and learn along the way.  Coupang’s growth has been incredibly inspiring, and I’m sincerely thankful for it. 

Any goals or plans for the future with Coupang? 

I don’t have any specific plans at the moment. I used to be a strict planner for my future, but now, I focus on what I enjoy doing and experiencing. My goal is to learn how to live fully in the moment.
