From the first interview to day one, recruitment coordination shapes how candidates experience Coupang. As leader of the U.S. Recruiting Coordinator team, Patrice Walker builds the people and processes that keep hiring running smoothly at scale – across teams, systems, and time zones – while ensuring every candidate experience remains thoughtful and consistent. 

The heartbeat of the recruiting team  

Since joining Coupang, Patrice has experienced growth at full speed – within her first six months, the Recruiting Coordinator team doubled in size to meet ambitious hiring goals. Rather than slowing the team down, that rapid expansion strengthened collaboration across U.S. office and global partners, reinforcing a culture built on adaptability and teamwork.  

At the center of it all are Recruiting Coordinators, whom Patrice calls the heartbeat of the recruiting organization. Sitting at the intersection of candidates, interviewers, hiring managers, and recruiters, her team manages everything from scheduling and interview logistics to offers, background checks, and onboarding – ensuring that even the most complex hiring operations feel seamless to candidates.  

Finding purpose in the busiest moments  

Patrice often says her sense of purpose is strongest during the busiest seasons. High-volume hiring pushes the team to manage countless interviews and new hires while staying focused on key timelines and removing roadblocks in real time.  

“That’s when we really show what we can do,” she says – supporting one another under pressure and working together to deliver results. For Patrice, maintaining balance between candidates and interviewers during these moments is not just operational success, but a clear measure of team’s impact on Coupang’s growth.  

Growth through global collaboration  

Looking ahead, Patrice is most excited about continuing to align recruitment coordination efforts with global partners. Collaborating with international teams not only improves efficiency, but also brings diverse perspectives that strengthen Coupang’s recruiting strategies.  

She finds fulfillment in building and restructuring processes that make hiring more effective, and in contributing to the long-term success of a strong, talented organization. Innovation, collaboration, and scale remain central to what motivates her at Coupang. 

Balancing work, family, and what matters most  

“Doing meaningful work also means being present for what matters most”, Patrice says. As a wife and mother, she’s intentional about setting boundaries – staying fully engaged at work while also making space for her family. Supported by Coupang’s flexibility and culture of trust, she’s been able to build a rhythm that allows her to thrive in both, finding fulfillment that extends beyond the role itself.
