We believe that optimal work performance begins with good health and a supportive work environment. Since 2021, we have been pioneering industry-leading health management programs for our employees, both in the field and the office. Our initiatives are designed to be flexible, allowing employees to utilize them according to their individual needs and circumstances. See below for overviews of just a few of our employee-focused programs.

Coupang Care Program

The Coupang Care Program is a comprehensive health management initiative we developed in collaboration with medical and healthcare experts. Aimed primarily at our field employees who often drive long hours, the program focuses on those with higher health indicators, such as elevated blood pressure and blood sugar levels. Eligible employees are given a month-long break from their regular duties to concentrate on improving their health.

During this break, they receive education on nutrition, exercise, and disease management. Expert counselors provide personalized guidance on areas like diet, physical activity, smoking cessation, alcohol moderation, sleep hygiene, and stress management. This approach helps our employees better understand their health and establish sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

Coupang Care Center on the Go

We introduced the “Coupang Care Center on the Go to address the challenges that delivery workers face in accessing regular medical services due to their demanding schedules.” This program brings professional medical services directly to our logistics centers and delivery facilities. Employees can receive basic health checkups—including blood pressure, hearing, and vision tests—as well as x-rays and blood tests right at their workplace. To accommodate all schedules, we offer night-time screenings and provide phone or video consultations for those unable to attend in person. This service is available to both Coupang Friends (delivery drivers) of Coupang Fulfillment Services (CFS) and Coupang Logistics Services (CLS) Quick Flexer delivery drivers.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Coupang is committed to creating an organizational culture that values diversity and inclusion. We believe that a variety of perspectives is crucial for delivering a broader range of services to our customers, and do not discriminate based on gender, education, nationality, disabilities, or any other characteristic.

We are proud that the percentage of female employees at our logistics and delivery centers has surpassed 45% —a notable achievement in an industry traditionally dominated by men. In 2023, the number of female executives globally increased by more than 30% year-over-year. We actively recruit female talent in fields like software engineering and data science.

Last November, we recognized over 150 employees for their significant contributions to patent filings at our ‘Rocket Inventor Awards,’ where over 70% of the awardees were women. This underscores our commitment to empowering female talent and we will continue to promote innovation at all levels to foster an environment where diverse perspectives lead to meaningful solutions. Over the next three years, we plan to invest the equivalent of more than $130 million in women’s empowerment initiatives.

Creating Employment Opportunities for those with Disabilities

As of February 2023, Coupang employs approximately 1,100 individuals with disabilities, representing a more than 20% increase from the previous year. Our employees with disabilities contribute across various roles, from logistics facilities and offices to gyms nationwide. We have established an Inclusion Management team dedicated to the recruitment, training, and support of employees with disabilities. This team provides ongoing job development and employment management, working to change perceptions and lower barriers to employment. We also offer full telecommuting options for those with mobility challenges to ensure a comfortable working environment.

In 2019, we partnered with the National Sports Federation for the Disabled to create the Coupang Para Athletes program, supporting employees with disabilities in pursuing athletic careers. We identify and actively support talented athletes, providing stipends, insurance, and various employee benefits. Our athletes have achieved significant success, winning numerous medals at national and international competitions.

Through our healthcare programs, family-friendly policies, initiatives for women’s professional development, and inclusive hiring practices, we strive to ensure that all Coupang employees can grow together. We will continue to invest in programs and policies that support our employees’ well-being and professional development.
