Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Robotics Hardware Engineer to design, develop, integrate, and deploy robotic manipulation systems. This role focuses on industrial robotic arms, end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), vision-guided automation solutions, and system integration.

The ideal candidate combines strong mechanical design expertise, advanced SolidWorks skills, and practical experience building, validating, and troubleshooting robotic systems in both laboratory and operational environments. Success in this role requires excellent communication skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to drive projects from concept through deployment.

What You Will Do

  • Design and integrate robotic manipulation systems utilizing industrial robotic arms and automation equipment.
  • Develop end effectors, grippers, fixtures, tooling, and supporting mechanical assemblies.
  • Create detailed 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Lead hardware prototyping, system integration, testing, validation, and troubleshooting activities.
  • Integrate vision systems, sensors, cameras, and automation hardware into robotic solutions.
  • Support robot deployment, commissioning, and optimization in laboratory and field environments.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and drive corrective actions for mechanical and system-level issues.
  • Collaborate closely with software, controls, vision, electrical, operations, and external vendor teams.
  • Drive projects independently with strong ownership and execution.

Basic Qualifications

  • Professional fluency in both English and Korean (Must be)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical engineering, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field.
  • 12+ years of experience in robotics, industrial automation, or robotic manipulation system development.
  • Hands-on experience integrating industrial robotic arms (ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience designing and integrating end-of-arm tooling (EOAT), grippers, fixtures, and automation equipment.
  • Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, including 3D modeling, assemblies, engineering drawings, GD&T, and DFM.
  • Experience creating and maintaining robotic system models using URDF (Unified Robot Description Format).
  • Strong hands-on skills in prototype assembly, testing, debugging, and system integration.
  • Experience with vision system integration, camera calibration, robot calibration, and hand-eye calibration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Willingness to work in laboratory, manufacturing, warehouse, and field environments as required.

Document Return Policy
1. This notification is given pursuant to Article 11 (6) of the Fair Hiring Procedure Act.

A job applicant, who has applied but not been finally selected for a position at Coupang (the "Company"), may request the Company to return his/her hiring documents submitted pursuant to the Fair Hiring Procedure Act. In such case, within fourteen (14) days from the date of identifying the receipt of the request, the Company will send the hiring documents to the job applicant's designated address via registered mail. Please be informed that the job applicant is required to pay the postage on the registered mail.
4. In preparation for a job applicant's request for the return of hiring documents pursuant to the main sentence of paragraph 2 above, the Company shall retain the original hiring documents submitted by the job applicant for 180 days from the completion of the recruiting process. If no request is made until the end of this period, all his/her hiring documents will be destroyed immediately in accordance with the Personal Information Protection Act.
5. The above paragraphs 1 - 4 shall only apply when the labor-related laws of Korea govern the application. They are otherwise not applicable.

직무 소개

로봇 조작(Manipulation) 시스템의 설계, 개발, 통합 및 현장 적용을 주도할 현장 중심의 Robotics Hardware Engineer를 모십니다. 본 직무는 산업용 로봇 암(Arm), 말단 장치(EOAT), 비전 기반 자동화 솔루션 및 시스템 통합(Integration)을 담당합니다.

탄탄한 기구 설계 역량과 숙련된 SolidWorks 활용 능력을 갖추고, 연구실 및 실제 운용 환경에서 로봇 시스템을 직접 구축·검증·개선해 본 경험이 있는 분을 찾고 있습니다. 부서 간 원활한 소통 능력을 바탕으로 컨셉 기획부터 실제 배포까지 프로젝트를 주도적으로 이끌어갈 수 있어야 합니다.

업무 내용

  • 로봇 시스템 설계 및 통합: 산업용 로봇 암과 자동화 설비를 활용한 조작 시스템 설계 및 통합
  • 말단 장치 개발: 엔드 이펙터(End Effector), 그리퍼(Gripper), 지그(Fixture), 툴링 및 관련 기구부 개발
  • 3D 모델링 및 도면 작성: SolidWorks 기반의 상세 3D 모델링, 어셈블리 및 제조용 도면 제작
  • 하드웨어 개발 전 과정 주도: 프로토타이핑, 시스템 통합, 테스트, 검증 및 문제 해결(Troubleshooting) 총괄
  • 자동화 센서/하드웨어 통합: 비전 시스템, 센서, 카메라 및 자동화 기기의 로봇 솔루션 적용
  • 현장 적용 및 최적화: 연구실 및 현장 환경에서의 로봇 배포, 시운전(Commissioning), 최적화 수행
  • 원인 분석 및 개선: 기구 및 시스템 이슈에 대한 근본 원인 분석(RCA) 및 시정 조치 실행
  • 다학제 협업: 소프트웨어, 제어, 비전, 전장, 운용 팀 및 외부 협력사와의 긴밀한 소통
  • 프로젝트 리더십: 높은 책임감을 바탕으로 프로젝트를 주도적으로 추진 및 완료

자격 요건

  • 어학: 한국어 및 영어 비즈니스 회화/작성 가능자 (필수)
  • 학력: 기계공학, 로봇공학, 메카트로닉스 또는 관련 전공 학사 이상
  • 경력: 로봇, 산업 자동화, 로봇 조작 시스템 개발 경력 9년 이상
  • 로봇 통합 경험: 주요 산업용 로봇(ABB, FANUC, KUKA, Yaskawa, Universal Robots 등) 적용 실무 경험
  • EOAT 설계 실무: 말단 장치(EOAT), 그리퍼, 지그, 자동화 설비 설계 및 통합 경험
  • CAD 숙련도: SolidWorks 활용 능력(3D 모델링, 어셈블리, 2D 도면 작성, GD&T, DFM 필수)
  • 로봇 모델링: URDF 기반의 로봇 시스템 모델 구축 및 유지보수 경험
