[팀 소개]

Customer Success 팀은 개발 및 애플리케이션 팀이 안정적으로 서비스를 운영할 수 있도록 고품질의 스토리지 인프라를 제공하는 조직입니다. 본 포지션은 대규모 트래픽을 처리하는 미션 크리티컬 환경에서 다양한 데이터베이스 플랫폼의 안정성과 성능을 확보하고, AI 기반 자동화를 통해 운영 효율성을 극대화하는 역할을 담당합니다.

Aurora MySQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, TiDB 등 다양한 데이터베이스를 대상으로 운영 자동화 및 플랫폼 최적화를 수행합니다.

[업무 내용]

  • AI 기반 자동화를 통해 데이터베이스 운영, 코드 및 설정 생성 프로세스를 효율화합니다.

  • Amazon Aurora MySQL 및 Aurora PostgreSQL 클러스터를 프로덕션 환경에서 운영 및 관리합니다.

  • 버전 업그레이드(마이너/메이저), 패치, 파라미터 튜닝 등 데이터베이스 유지보수 작업을 수행합니다.

  • Blue/Green Deployment를 기반으로 최소 다운타임 환경에서 DB 업그레이드 및 마이그레이션을 수행합니다.

  • AWS CloudWatch, Performance Insights 등을 활용하여 데이터베이스 성능을 모니터링하고 분석합니다.

  • 쿼리 최적화, 인덱스 튜닝, 설정 조정을 통해 성능 병목을 해결하고 확장 전략을 수립합니다.

  • 사전 모니터링 및 장애 대응을 통해 데이터베이스의 가용성과 안정성을 확보합니다.

  • 장애 대응(On-call 포함) 및 복구 전략 설계 및 검증을 수행합니다.

  • Python 기반의 자동화 스크립트 및 내부 툴을 개발하여 운영 효율성을 개선합니다.

  • 데이터베이스 운영을 위한 표준 운영 절차(SOP)를 수립 및 관리합니다.

  • 개발팀, 인프라팀, 보안팀과 협업하여 데이터베이스 아키텍처 및 관련 프로젝트를 수행합니다.

[자격 요건]

  • 데이터베이스 엔지니어로서 10년 이상의 실무 경험을 보유하신 분

  • 개인 또는 조직의 워크플로우, 스토리지, 코드 영역에서 AI 자동화 적용 경험 2년 이상 보유하신 분

  • Amazon Aurora MySQL 및/또는 Aurora PostgreSQL 운영 경험 5년 이상 보유하신 분

  • MySQL 8.0 이상에 대한 깊은 이해 (Replication, InnoDB internals, 쿼리 최적화, 트러블슈팅)

  • PostgreSQL 운영 경험 (확장 기능, vacuum, 메이저 버전 업그레이드)

  • AWS 데이터베이스 서비스(Aurora, RDS) 및 관련 서비스(CloudWatch, IAM, VPC 등)에 대한 높은 이해도

  • Python 또는 유사 언어를 활용한 자동화 개발 역량

  • 초당 10,000 TPS 이상의 대규모 트래픽 환경에서의 데이터베이스 운영 경험

  • 이커머스 또는 유사한 고트래픽 환경에서 대규모 데이터베이스를 운영한 경험이 있으신 분

  • DocumentDB, DynamoDB, MongoDB 등 NoSQL 데이터베이스 운영 경험을 보유하신 분

  • TiDB, Spanner 등 NewSQL 데이터베이스 경험을 보유하신 분

[Position Overview]

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Database Engineer with AI experience to join the Customer Success team at Coupang. The Customer Success team obsesses over the success of development and application teams by delivering high-quality storage infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for developing tools and automation (scripts, AI) for reliable operations of Aurora MySQL, Aurora PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, DynamoDB, Cassandra, and TiDB databases in a high-traffic, mission-critical e-commerce environment. You will work closely with development teams and application teams to ensure database reliability, performance, and availability while driving operational excellence through automation and best practices.

[Key Responsibilities]

  • AI Automation
    • Generate AI Skills and Context prompts to automate storage engine and code and configuration generation across storage technologies.
  • Database Operations & Management
    • Manage and operate large-scale Amazon Aurora MySQL and Aurora PostgreSQL clusters in production environments.
    • Perform database maintenance tasks including version upgrades (minor/major), patching, and parameter tuning.
    • Execute Blue/Green Deployment (BGD) based upgrades and migrations with minimal downtime.
  • Performance Optimization
    • Monitor and analyze database performance using AWS CloudWatch, Performance Insights, and internal monitoring tools.
    • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks through query optimization, index tuning, and configuration adjustments.
    • Conduct capacity planning and provide recommendations for scaling strategies.
  • Reliability & Availability
    • Ensure high availability and reliability of database services through proactive monitoring and incident response.
    • Participate in on-call rotations and respond to database-related incidents in a timely manner.
    • Design and implement failover strategies and validate recovery procedures.
  • Automation & Tooling
    • Develop and maintain automation scripts and tools (Python) for database operations, reducing manual intervention.
    • Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all database operations.
    • Contribute to internal tooling and operational frameworks.
  • Collaboration
    • Partner with application development teams to provide database architecture guidance and support.
    • Collaborate with infrastructure and security teams on database-related projects (e.g., SPIRE-based DB authentication).
    • Participate in change management processes and conduct thorough reviews of database changes.

[Required Qualifications]

  • Experience: 10+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Engineer.
  • AI Automation: 2+ years of creating AI Automation for your own or company workflows, storage, or code.
  • Aurora / RDS: 5+ years of experience managing Amazon Aurora MySQL and/or Aurora PostgreSQL in production environments.
  • MySQL: Strong expertise in MySQL 8.0+ including replication, InnoDB internals, query optimization, and troubleshooting.
  • PostgreSQL: Working knowledge of PostgreSQL including extensions, vacuuming, and major version upgrade procedures.
  • AWS: Proficiency with AWS database services (Aurora, RDS) and related services (CloudWatch, IAM, VPC, Parameter Groups).
  • Scripting: Proficiency in Python or similar scripting languages for automation.
  • Operations: Experience with database operations in large-scale, high-traffic environments (10,000+ TPS).

[Preferred Qualifications]

  • Ability to communicate effectively in English (written and verbal) in a multinational team environment.
  • Experience with Blue/Green Deployment for database version upgrades.
  • Experience with database migration strategies (Logical Replication, snapshot-based migration).
  • Knowledge of database security best practices including authentication, encryption, and access control.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Experience with monitoring and alerting tools (Grafana, Prometheus).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and GitOps workflows.
  • Experience operating databases at scale in e-commerce or similar high-traffic industries.
  • Experience operating NoSQL databases (DocumentDB, DynamoDB, MongoDB).
  • Experience in NewSQL (TiDB, AWS DSQL, Spanner)
