Team Overview
Coupang’s FinTech business includes CouPay, our proprietary payments service, which provides 10M+ customers with convenient ways to pay for their purchases on Coupang’s platforms; Wow card (the fastest growing co-branded credit card in Korea) and Seller Wallet (liquidity and lending solutions for our sellers). We are also in the process of aggressively expanding into new Fintech product segments across Payments and Lending.
We are looking for a head of Finance for Coupang’s FinTech business. This is a critical Business Unit Finance role working in close partnership with FinTech business leaders. This role will be the primary liaison between the FinTech business and Central Finance to facilitate the quarterly/annual planning process, business updates, and reporting deliverables.
In this role, you will be required to develop the operating and financial plan required to achieve strategic plans and goals, track performance on growth, margins and cashflows and identify opportunities to improve ongoing financial performance. The role will also be responsible for securing debt funding for the business as it grows and for supporting our BD team in partnership/deal negotiations and subsequent management of financial performance of partnerships.
What You Will Do
- Be responsible for managing the Finance function for the FinTech business
- Drive Coupang Fintech business’s financial planning and budgeting processes.
- Forecast, track and update financial plan on a regular basis
- Define key KPIs, report on variances, identify root causes and partner with business unit leaders to come up with solutions
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability of the business using data and analysis
- Oversee the shared finance services, such as Accounting and Treasury, provided by Coupang Corp.
- Obtain financing for the lending business as it grows
- Collaborate with all the leaders across the business and interface with all the corporate finance teams at Coupang.
- Partner with our BD team in partnership/deal negotiations with local banks and card companies
Basic Qualifications
- Proven experience as a CFP or in a senior financial leadership role within a financial service company or a tech company.
- Financial modeling and strong data analysis skills.
- Proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, and risk management.
- Excellent communication skills including ability to communicate complex financial topics to a non-technical audience
- Ability to partner effectively with business, corporate finance and functional teams
Preferred Qualifications
- Debt financing (experience raising debt, establishment of debt facilities and/or issuance of ABS securities)
- Managing partnerships with banks/card companies from a finance perspective
- Knowledge of the Korean bank/credit card/FinTech market
- CPA/CA
- MBA
