Role Overview:
The Senior Staff, Network Engineering works with Corporate IT managers and teams, company stakeholders to plan, develop, coordinate, and execute strategies consistent with the mission and purpose of Coupang. The position will mentor a team of engineers to troubleshoot and optimize our networks for our users and customers. This position requires a strategic leader with demonstrated experience in Data Center network and Fulfillment network services, network project governance and planning, vendor relationship management, change management, risk management, and organizational strategic planning. The position will support the team to execute a playbook while staying focused on the expected output. The incumbent must be able to evaluate risk, be able to act expeditiously to make decisions, understanding the factors associated with decision-making in a technological environment. This position requires original thinking and judgment in the development and takes on full responsibility and accountability for network design, creation, installation, and maintenance.

What You Will Do:

• Provides long-range strategic planning for new and innovative networking technologies, including research and development of alternative architectures, new infrastructure framework, and engineering strategy; monitors the impact of technological developments.
• Leads advanced technical project teams and contractors, with engineering emphasis on routing/switching, system buildouts, and systems security and reliability; plans, assigns, directs and coordinates work efforts; develops project plans, timetables and staff requirements.
• Develop and enforce standard operating procedures to ensure quality and productivity.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and other IT leaders to develop overall network strategy in the context of the business strategy.
• Ensure disaster recovery plans are in place, updated as needed due to business, environmental or regulatory changes and are exercised as defined.
• Maintain customer satisfaction and to ensure quality standards, adherence to processes, policies, and service level agreements for customer responsiveness, incident resolution, and follow up.
• Establish industry best practices that are right sized for the organization to manage risk, meet business needs and deliver services and solutions successfully.
• Manage the delivery lifecycle from technical design through integration testing, collaborating with stakeholders on functional design and user testing.
• Assess the technical and business fitness of the infrastructure portfolio and their associated costs and risks.
• Work with cross functional teams to define and execute on Network Infrastructure Support Strategies and communication across the teams.
• Develops criteria and oversees design and development of prototypical lab environments for the purpose of providing testing and training platforms of new networking technologies by engineering and operations staff.
• Develop system installation and configuration documents for references.
• Recommend new networking technologies to improve performance, reliability and scalability.
• Perform root cause analysis of network issues and recommend corrective actions.
• Represents the department at user group, task force and steering committee meetings and pilot testing, as assigned.

Essential Qualifications

• In-depth knowledge of network technologies and protocols, primarily TCP/IP.
• Extensive experience with routers, switches, network security, Internet/Intranet environments; strong understanding of internal/external routing protocols.
• Deep understanding and successful implementation of Industry Best Practices Network Operations and Standards, Uptime Tier Levels & Operational Sustainability Standards.
• Ability to oversee, monitor, and maintain network operations, including high-availability and resilient network architectures.
• 15+ experience in datacenter operations, infrastructure operations, implementation, or management.
• Knowledge of technology industry trends and emerging technologies.
• Knowledge of project life cycle methodologies.
• Ability to evaluate and make recommendations on different network-related applications software packages.
• Ability to manage studies, special projects and assignments with long-range impacts.
• Ability to plan, direct, assign, supervise and evaluate project teams and task forces.
• Demonstrated leadership experience building cross-organizational consensus with exposure to technology providers and/or business clients.
• Proven problem solving and negotiation skills in multi-party situations.
• Exceptional communication skills, executive presentation skills, relationship building skills and the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Demonstrated experience managing a high-performing, cohesive team, and leading network implementation and enhancement.
• Minimum of 5 years of Software-Defined Network expertise, understanding of network automation, and experience implementing Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure.
• Professional certification (e.g. CCIE, JNCIE, CISSP, CISA, ITIL, PMP).
