Position : Principal I, Compliance
What are the 4 things you need this person to do?
1. Oversee the development, implementation and maintenance of trade compliance processes for Coupang businesses in Taiwan while focusing on risk, process improvement, reduction of execution costs and efficiencies
2. Use a thorough understanding of TW trade compliance laws, regulations and practices to build businesses cases to drive compliance efficiencies while monitoring operations related to trade activities concerning Taiwan
3. Ensure businesses are compliant by conducting internal audits on essential topics including, but not limited to, classification, valuation, import requirement, and record keeping
4. Build strategic partnerships businesses [1st line of defense] and trade operation team [2nd line of defense] to consistently serve as the 3rd line of defense
Essential Qualifications:
• Minimum 5-8 years of experience in international trade and logistics
• Background in legal, compliance, regulatory, business management, and/or consulting
• In-depth understanding of Taiwan customs related regulations/laws and clearance process Strong analytical skills, able to translate complex business issues into simple problem statements as well as clear processes and actions
• Creative thinker, ability to streamline processes, implement changes that foster higher efficiencies while meeting expectations of our internal and external stakeholders
• High ethical standards of integrity, transparency, and trust
• Detail oriented, self-driven
Preferred Qualifications:
• Customs broker license
• Proficiency in English
• Experience with multi-national firms / global trading environments
• Global trade compliance expertise in both B2B and B2C transactions
