Sr.Manager, Back-end Engineer (FC Automation Tech)

FTS is an organization for all technologies related to Coupang Fulfillment and Transportation Systems, and FC Automation is where the most advanced fulfillment and transportation automation, AI and robotics technologies are developed and deployed to real-world fulfillment applications.  As a member of the FC Automation Tech team, you’ll be a results-oriented leader and contributor who will develop and integrate state-of-the-art technologies and systems to automate various parts of fulfillment operations, ranging from inbound, inventory, and outbound picking & packing processes.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Lead and/or contribute to design, development, test, and deployment of integrated automation system for our fulfillment centers.
  2. Working with other members of the engineering team to execute against project plans and delivery commitments within an Agile/Scrum environment.
  3. Deliver production-quality codes in order to achieve the scalability, reliability, availability, extensibility, and performance objectives of Coupang’s FC systems.
  4. Apply CI/CD principle to software engineering and raising the bar of software system development standard at FTS;
  5. Bring innovative ideas to practice and continuously improve the efficiency, reduce the cost and wow the customers through smart Coupang Rocket Delivery service.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field with 10+ years of experience.
  • 8+ years of experience leading a software development through multiple product/platform releases.
  • Deep expertise in building high quality software with the Agile processes: Software design, code reviews, QA process.
  • Expert-level programming skills, strong object-oriented design and algorithmic analysis background. 
  • Ability to handle multiple competing priorities and to deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Working closely with multiple engineering teams from fulfillment and logistics field, which is mainly operating based on KST time-zone.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master or PhD degree in Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability of building, integrating, and delivering highly reliable and automated warehouse systems using AI and robotics technologies.
  • Experience developing Warehouse Management System (WMS), Warehouse Execution System (WES), Warehouse Control System (WCS) or related field in e-Commerce operation and technology focused on robotics and AI-based automation.
  • Deep expertise in real-time AI, robotic and automation system and technologies.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a proven ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences.
  • Proven record of innovation and problem-solving skills, especially in the areas of logistics and fulfillment automation.
