Job Overview

Coupang relies on technology to provide on-time, fast delivery of products to customers every day. GO Data Platform (GODP) organization lays down a data foundation across fintech and financial services where the team accurately automates the full lifecycle of finance operations for all Coupang’s businesses. Building a scalable and reliable data pipeline to handle billions of financial documents and hundreds of terabytes of order payments data in the Data Lake is an architectural challenge that we are facing. We are looking for an experienced and passionate engineering leader who can drive direction on technology, design and build large-scale, distributed data pipelines by putting innovative and creative solutions. The ideal candidate will have excellent engineering skills, business acumen, and rich experience in leading the build of extensible and scalable solutions to meet complex financial and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

•    Serve as a technical liaison among product owner, developers, and stakeholders.
•    Understand, communicate, and enforce software architecture strategy at the organizational level
•    Manage all phases of the development lifecycle including architecture, development, testing, deployment, and delivery of large-scale global fintech platforms and services.
•    Lead and drive the architecture design of a new financial/accounting platform for scalability, extensibility, and reliability.
•    Decompose complex problems into simple, straightforward solutions, providing mechanisms for the teams to prioritize ruthlessly and “move with urgency”.
•    Participate in strategic planning to achieve technical and business goals with the team, leadership chain, and with customers.
•    Write code when necessary to lead by example and help with high-priority projects.

Essential Qualifications

•    10+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams in a fast-moving environment.
•    10+ years of experience in architecting and developing complex financial systems.
•    5+ years of experience in designing and building a scalable and high-performing platform and data pipelines across fintech domains.
•    Strong knowledge and experience on Big Data stack (NoSQL databases like Cassandra, Kafka, Spark, Flink, Hive, S3, Redshift) to handle massive amount of data streaming, and near real-time processing.
•    Strong familiarity developing with Java and the Spring Framework as well as experience in an AWS environment.
•    Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to define mission, vision, and roadmaps.
•    Experience partnering with product and program management teams.

Preferred Qualifications

•    Solid engineering skills as a lead engineer to coach and lead high performing software engineers and keep them motivated.
•    Excellent communication and analytical skills to shepherd communication with end users, technical & business teams to collect requirements, describe product features, and develop technical designs to achieve business goals.
•    Knowledge of Agile software engineering practices & patterns for the full software development lifecycle including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and live site operations.
•    Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, highly collaborative environment.
•    Track record of developing engineers through various career stages and building high-performance teams.
•    Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement of systems, software and processes through data analysis and metrics.
•    Able to independently operate and lead through ambiguous in fast paced environment.
