Global Director - Security & Loss Prevention

Coupang Global Security team is looking for a global and a strategic leader to join our leadership team as a Global director -Security & Loss Prevention. As part of the Global Security leadership team, you will have ownership and responsibility to develop  the global loss prevention program and lead Coupang Security & Loss Prevention team protecting the company’s assets, people, and brand.


As a business leader, the Security & Loss Prevention Director will build and implement solutions for a variety of unique security challenges from physical security of sites, to theft and fraud, and to formulating response to critical incidents affecting Coupang. You will obsess over maximizing the employee and customer experience, and drive a global strategy that sets the bar for Coupang and the security team.

Responsibilities include:

• Lead the Security & Loss Prevention team in developing and implementing business strategy and security processes throughout the organization to reduce risks, respond to incidents, and limit exposure and liability concerning financial, physical, personal, and reputational risk.

• Provide guidance and mentorship to our operations team on safety, protection, operations, technology, and practices to anticipate, address, prevent, and mitigate security and loss issues across the supply chain.

• Lead deployment of groundbreaking technology solutions and innovative Loss Prevention management techniques to safeguard Coupang’s assets, employees and customers.

• Provide leadership and support to operations teams in emergency situations like natural disasters and active threats that disrupt business operations.

• Assess and analyze safety, theft, and loss risk to Coupang and realign Loss Prevention strategy, as appropriate.

Education & Experience

Required Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years experience in retail/ecommerce asset protection or comparable role
  • 7 years experience in a leadership role with direct report responsibility
  • Proficiency with technology and ability to learn and teach new tools
  • Experience managing in a matrix environment
  • Experience with leading presentations to meet strategic objectives and facilitating collaborative discussions that engender problem solving.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing and using varied sources of data to understand underlying drivers of complex problems
  • Must be knowledgeable in principles and practices of security management, including business and budget management practices as well as security preventative practices and investigatory practices

Key Qualifications

  • 15+ years senior leadership management experience
  • Expertise in Loss Prevention strategy development, best practices including internal and external product loss controls and security systems technology
  • Experience with security and investigative practices and procedures including use of electronic and technological resources, law enforcement information, research techniques and analytical methods
  • Proven experience with crafting strategy and implementing systems and standard methodologies
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation and presentation skills
  • Travel, as needed
